ALSTONE WPC VS Plywood

ALSTONE WPC VS Plywood

  •    Termite and Borer protection

If we will talk about termite protection and borer protection in that case Alstone WPC has an upper hand in comparison to plywood. This is because the Alstone WPC is made with a combination of 70% plastic & has just 15% of wood fibers. So this makes it impossible for a termite to get into Alstone WPC and damage them.

But if we will talk about Marine-grade Plywood then it's made up of 100% of wood that's why marine-grade plywood can't compete against Alstone WPC.

Furthermore, I would like to add that now we get plywood that has a termite resistant coating on every layer of marine plywood & the glue which is used in it is great for making it termite resistant. Alstone WPC will always be a better investment for you.

  •      Waterproofing

when we talk about waterproofing then both the features even work underwater. Because as we talked about it above that Alstone WPC is made up of plastic so that is why it stands handsomely underwater. But if we will talk about Marine Plywood that it is also very good in terms of waterproofing. Do you know the fact that Marine grade plywood is also used in the manufacturing of boats!! So we can say that both of them stand very well in their area and will surely get the job done.

But if we will compare it will Alstone WPC then it will be one step ahead of the marine-grade plywood because. Firstly, wood has a tendency of absorbing some amount of water and on the other hand, Alstone WPC will never absorb water. Secondly, plywood is glued with resign which is completely waterproof but is still resigned and Alstone WPC is a board with no layers into it. So it is slightly better than marine plywood.

  • ·  Fire resistance

Natural wood and Alstone wood-plastic composites (WPC) are 2 common types of outdoor decking materials used in the market today. We all know that traditional wood can catch fire easily, but Alstone wood plastic composite (WPC) floors are made to be fire resistant to keep your property and, more importantly, your family safe. Researchers have found that the wood fiber content in wood plastic composite planks makes them flame resistant and a better choice than wood. Being a flame-proof material, Alstone WPC planks do not burn with flame and allow the fire to defuse resulting in your property being safe. Whereas, old wood planks support the fire is spreading as it burns with flame. Wood catches fire and keeps on burning even if the heating source is removed. This is not the case with Alstone WPC, as it's a polymer-based product. It is self-extinguishing and does not ignite with the fire when in touch with a fire source. The fire-retardant properties of Alstone WPC planks have been enchanced by adding halogen-free fire retardants to the wood-polymer mixture during the melt phase.

Yes, Alstone WPC is better if we compare it with marine-grade plywood.
