WHICH IS BETTER MDF OR WPC?

What is the Difference Between ALSTONE WPC AND MDF?

From everything we see, about 50-60% of the things we see use wood. Woods is a crucial element, and they can be very beneficial everywhere we go, whether in the kitchen or the entertainment flow. When we decide to perform woodwork around our homes, it is essential to achieve our best. These two wooden boards are highly regarded, one is MDF, and the second is WPC.

Alstone WPC VS MDF

The primary distinction between the MDF and WPC boards is that MDF boards are more brittle than other wooden boards. However, WPC boards have much greater endurance than MDF boards. MDF is mainly used for interior work, while WPC is suitable for outdoor and indoor jobs.

MDF is the abbreviation for Medium Density Fiberboard. Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is thought to be heavier than plywood, and MDF is an item that is made from wood. In making Medium Density Fiberboard, the breakdown of the residuals of hardwood and softwood occurs and is then converted into wood fibers.

WPC is a shorthand for Wood-Plastic Composites. Wood-Plastic Composites are understood or described as composite materials made from wood fiber/wood flour and thermoplastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polypropylene (PP) and polythene (PE), and polylactic acid (PLA).

Wood-Plastic composites can also contain inorganic fillers such as lingo-cellulose, wood fiber, and wood plastic. Wood-plastic composites (WPC) comprise a vast class of materials NFPC and are also referred to in the Natural Fiber Plastic Composites field.

Fiber-based filler made of cellulose, such as coffee husk, pulp bamboo, straw, etc., might not be included. The name Composite Timber often refers to WPCs, and their origins go back quite a while back. WPCs are widely used to make deck flooring throughout India; however, WPCs are also used in other applications. It is used in fencing and timbers, claddings and railings, sliding, etc. The first time that WPC began to be recognized was in the mid-1990s.

Manufacturers claim that WPCs are greener and require less maintenance than other solid woods. WPCs are manufactured in place by mixing pieces of groundwood with thermoplastic resin that is heated. Corroding is a process that does occur in WPCs, and WPCs are believed to be impervious from decay, decay, etc. Tools commonly used to shape WPCs can be modified easily into new designs.

What is MDF?

MDF is composed of various fibers, and it can also be used as a construction material. It is believed to be more durable and heavier than particle boards. In the 1980s, across North America and Europe, massive production of MDF occurred. MDF is generally composed of various substances, including wood fibers and wax, water, etc.

In the cutting process, Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) cannot accommodate knots or rings as it is more stable than natural timbers. For any fiberboard that has been dried-processed, a generic name has been developed over time called Medium Density Fiberboard. MDF can easily be damaged. Its surface MDF is exceptionally smooth, making it a perfect basis for paint. Medium Density Fiberboard is soft on the edges, making it easy to cut and create designs.

MDF can absorb liquids and expand if it is not sealed correctly, which adds to its drawbacks. MDF doesn't provide an ideal grip on screws because it is made using the highest quality fibers. If it is not handled with care, MDF might sag. If MDF is placed under stress, it may split into pieces. MDF is resistant to fire.

Which is Better MDF or WPC?

  • MDF boards expand when liquids or water seep into them, whereas WPC boards are water-resistant.
  • MDF boards can last for up to 10 years, while Alstone WPC boards last for 50 to 100 years with a company warranty of 25 years.
  • MDF boards can't be easily transformed into different shapes, whereas WPC boards can easily be converted into other forms.
  • Some harmful chemicals and substances could be used to produce MDF. However, no chemical or hazardous substances are employed in the manufacture of WPCs.
  • MDF boards are more expensive, while WPC boards are considered more affordable.

Conclusion

The two boards, MDF and WPC, are tested and efficient in their respective applications. It all depends on the location and how you intend to use the board. However, it is thought that WPC is more effective than MDF. If you're looking to create quality woodwork in your office or at home within your budget, then prefer WPC since it's more durable, efficient, and affordable than MDF if you wish to use WPC WPC board outside of your office or home building. You will not be concerned about water or rain falling onto the WPC board since they are water-proof. MDF and WPC are both boards that have been certified as Fire Resistant.
