Wood polymer composite (WPC) is a composite that is made from rice /wheat husk and thermoplastic. Despite it being known and there are many researches in several decades, this is still a new material for many people.  Recently, however, WPC  industry has grown tremendously worldwide, from North America to Europe and Asia. 1.      First of all, ensure that the manufacturer provides you a right density WPC which not only gives you sufficient strength but also appropriate flexibility/toughness.

 It is a very important parameter to be  noted that the density can be achieved by two different ways- either  by reinforcing with filler content or  by reinforcing with polymer content. Both can impart same density but wpc reinforced with filler content makes the material brittle having no flexibility. It means that it will break easily like chalk and would not hold screws/nails strongly. It will not be tough and can easily fracture under implied load. On the other hand , WPC reinforced with polymer content gives  right density with  required flexibility/ toughness. 2.      Confirm that the thickness and straightness of the WPC Sheets are true and uniform throughout the length and breadth of the board.  It means an 18mm thick board when measured with perfectly calibrated vernier  caliper will give same reading (18mm ) at all points anywhere in the sheet. It ensures perfectly calibrated  smooth and uniformly thick sheets reflecting the unique applications such as Modular kitchens, Wardrobes, Furnitures, Cladding, decking, landscaping timbers, fencing etc. which only a reputed brand like ALSTONE can guarantee.

3.      Ensure that the WPC is   100 % waterproof, 100 % termite  & borer proof . These features are a must and easily found in Alstone WPC sheets for Indian tropical conditions which is susceptible to moisture and termite infestation

5.      Ensure that you are buying from a  reputable brand meeting relevant standards and the product is  formaldehyde, lead and asbestos free. That is it is non toxic and safe to people of all ages. In the absence of any  BIS standards , ensure that the manufacturer is able to provide you test certificates from govt approved labs like Shriram institute of industrial research, IIT, SGS ,CBRI, NPL and National Test House for various mechanical and physical properties.

6.      Ensure that the manufacturer provides you   relevant certificate from GRIHA certifying it to be a GREEN and sustainable product  which means it will not harm our environment yet is perfect to sustain our needs. It should be recyclable and environment friendly.
